Meet the founder

Conrod Kelly learned at a very early age that in order to stand out, he had to step up. The principles of purpose, preparation, practice, and persistence have allowed him to accomplish great feats in each stage of his life and career. Using these principles, Conrod was able to land seven competitive job offers from Fortune 500 companies at the National Black MBA career fair during his final semester at Florida A&M University. Since completing his MBA, Conrod has progressed through the ranks at GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, and Merck in varied sales and marketing positions. During this time, he remained steadfast to his purpose by actively participating in diversity recruiting, mentoring and coaching MBA-students and colleagues, and speaking on the importance of being authentic in all aspects of your life. Conrod founded STAGES to give back in a larger way all the lessons that had been passed on to him. He is currently working on his first book.

STAGED! A Four-Step Process to Stand Out in Your Personal and Professional Life is a self-help book meant to encourage, inspire, and advise people who seek success in their personal and professional lives. The book is organized around an original metaphor that helps to demystify personal and professional development by comparing it to something tangible like staging a home. The concept of being "staged" involves adopting a mindset and process based on four principles derived from home staging:

  • Homework
  • De-cluttering, cleaning, and making repairs
  • Improving your curb appeal
  • Crafting and telling your story.

The print version of STAGED! includes notes pages and worksheets to help reinforce the lessons you are learning during the staging process.

Just as investing in staging a home could lead to greater returns, imagine the returns you could realize by investing in yourself. Start now by picking up your copy of STAGED! at one of these online retailers.

SILENT

NO coincidence – I was listening to the news one morning while getting dressed for work, and I heard someone say, “You know, silent and listen are basically the same word.”  I didn’t think much about it at first, but as I was finishing my breakfast, I realized that silent and listen are anagrams.  An anagram is when you rearrange letters in a word to make a different word using the same letters. Off all the common anagrams, this one seemed to have a deeper meaning.  I did a quick Google search and came across a quote from Alfred Brendel that says, “Listen and Silent are spelled with the same letters – coincidence? I don’t think so.” On my commute to work I received a phone call from a close friend saying they needed to vent and they wanted to know if I had few minutes to LISTEN to them.  Coincidence?  My friends typically call me for my advice, but this call was very specific to listening.  Given the events of the morning, I graciously agreed to listen an...
